Rise in the Minimum Wage

For those organisations employing staff, it’s worth noting that the hourly rates for the national minimum wage are to rise as of 1st October 2009. Read on below for more information:

Daily accommodation offset: £4.51.
Service charges, cover charges, tips and gratuities paid to workers through the payroll or tips given directly to a worker and tronc payments paid to a worker from the tronc master cannot be included as part of the minimum wage. The limit on a week’s pay for the purposes of working out statutory redundancy payments is to increase from £350 to £380.
